National Hospital Cost Data Collection Public Sector
The National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) Public Sector, collected through the states and territories, is an annual and voluntary collection of public hospital data. The NHCDC is used to develop the national efficient price, which determines the level of funding public hospitals receive annually.
To ensure it is robust and fit for purpose, the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority progresses each NHCDC submission through data validation, quality assurance checks and reporting to allow for benchmarking across the jurisdictions. Each collection includes the production of a public hospital cost report that contains cost weight tables.
