Data Access and Release Policy

The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) is responsible for relevant data collections to enable activity based funding, as prescribed by the National Health Reform Act 2011 (NHR Act).
IHACPA is committed to transparency and open access to data, consistent with the objectives of the NHR Act, the Freedom of Information Act 1982, the Privacy Act 1988 and the Information Publication Scheme. However, this is subject to IHACPA’s obligation to respect and maintain confidential, commercially valuable and personal information.
The Data Access and Release Policy outlines the principles and processes adopted by IHACPA in the discretionary access and release of data collected under the NHR Act by:
- using a consistent approach in releasing data
- complying with the legislative requirements
- assessing risks associated with the release of data based on a set of principles.
The current version of this policy is Version 7.0.
