This National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) Public Hospitals Report includes the results of participation across the various jurisdictions. The reports investigates a number of specific questions relating to hospital costs for admitted, non-admitted and emergency department services. The report includes jurisdiction level data and the national cost weight tables.These documents account for the hospital costs submitted by jurisdictions for the following activity streams: admitted acute, non-admitted, emergency department, mental health, subacute and non-acute.
Data Quality Assurance Framework 2012

The IHPA Data Quality Framework details IHPA's processes to monitor and ensure best possible data quality. This is a supplement to the 3 year data plan. The IHPA data quality arrangements are part of the broader IHPA Quality Management Framework, including systematic arrangements for service and quality, risk management, human resource, finance, information technology, standards compliance, and roles and responsibilities for all those involved in quality management.

The National Hospital Cost Data Collection (NHCDC) has been producing national hospital costing results since 1995-96 as a voluntary collection. On 29 November 2008, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) agreed to a National Partnership Agreement on Hospital and Health Workforce Reform (the National Partnership) involving $1.383 billion in Commonwealth payments to states and territories to improve efficiency and capacity in public hospitals through four key reform components, one of which is the development of a nationally consistent approach to Activity Based Funding.

AR-DRG Version 6.x

The Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Group (AR-DRG) Version 6.x was implemented from July 1, 2011 and is the Australian Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) patient classification system that provides a clinically meaningful way of relating the types of patients treated in the hospital to the resources required by the hospital. AR-DRGs incorporate the ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS.
