The Mental Health Phase of Care (MHPoC) Clinical Refinement Testing Project aimed to determine whether refinements to the MHPoC recommended as part of the 2017 Clinical Refinement Project improved the reliability of how MHPoC definitions are applied by clinicians. This report outlines the findings from the testing and recommendations on the future refinement of the MHPoC. This report was approved by the Pricing Authority in May 2021.

The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) released a public consultation paper to outline the proposed fifth version of the Australian National Subacute and Non-Acute Patient Classification (AN-SNAP V5). IHPA invited all interested parties to provide feedback on the changes proposed for AN-SNAP V5 from Monday 12 April to 12pm AEST on Monday 10 May 2021. 15 submissions were received during the public consultation process.

The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) released its Consultation Paper on the Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2022–23. Public consultation was open from Wednesday 9 June 2021 to Friday 9 July 2021. IHPA’s Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services is revised and published each year. It outlines the principles, scope and methodology adopted by IHPA to determine the national efficient price and the national efficient cost for Australian public hospital services for the specific financial year. The feedback and comments received through the consultation process will be incorporated into the Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2022–23.

Development of the admitted care classifications

The Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) released a public consultation paper outlining the major changes for the following classifications used in admitted care: • Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRG) Version 11.0 • International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) Twelfth Edition • Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) Twelfth Edition • Australian Coding Standards (ACS) Twelfth Edition. Collectively the diagnosis and intervention classifications and standards are known as ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and underpin the AR-DRG classification. IHPA invited all interested stakeholders to provide feedback on the major changes proposed for ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS Twelfth Edition and AR-DRG Version 11.0. Submissions for this consultation closed at 5pm AEST on Tuesday 22 June 2021. All submissions are published unless respondents specifically identify sections that they believe should be kept confidential due to commercial or other reasons.
