Strategic Review of the National Hospital Cost Data Collection

Date published: 8 July 2013

The NHCDC Strategic Review has been commissioned by the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) to assess the NHCDC's suitability as the primary data collection to determine the NEP, seek the views of stakeholders regarding issues with the current NHCDC and its future directions, and recommend a roadmap for the future.

This review involved national consultation with 148 stakeholders, to examine positive and negative aspects of the NHCDC through interview and submission. A framework was used to analyse the NHCDC's purpose, inputs, outputs and outcomes in order to determine its fitness for purpose for strategic intent, efficiency and effectiveness.
