National Pricing Model Technical Specifications 2021–22

This document provides the technical specifications for how the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) developed the activity based funding models for the service streams to be funded for the National Efficient Price and the National Efficient Cost Determinations 2021–22.
As an accompaniment to the technical specifications, IHPA has produced the following reports:
- Pricing and funding for safety and quality – Hospital acquired complications 2021–22, which provides the detailed technical specifications for how IHPA developed the hospital acquired complications funding approach and risk adjustment methodology, which has been in effect since 2018.
- Pricing and funding for safety and quality – Avoidable hospital readmissions 2021–22, which provides the detailed technical specifications for how IHPA developed the avoidable hospital readmissions funding approach and risk adjustment methodology, developed for implementation from 1 July 2021.
