Meetings with our expert advisors
IHACPA’s expert advisors met for 2 days at the end of October, where we welcomed Professor Simon Darcy and Ms Melanie Kelly to the team. They join us with a great deal of experience and we’re pleased to have them on board. Professor Darcy is a power wheelchair user and specialises in developing inclusive organisational practices for marginalised groups, including people with disability. Ms Kelly has extensive experience in public policy and economics consulting, with a focus on life sciences and health policy.
The meeting covered many topics, as the experts reflected on their time engaging with the disability community about the impacts of pricing. We are hearing some key themes emerge on how current pricing arrangements aren’t reflecting the true costs of service delivery, and how this is affecting participants getting the quality services they deserve. This is particularly acute in regional areas and for people with complex disabilities.
Don’t forget to have your say
We’ve been travelling around Australia for our engagement activities, and we’re almost finished. However, there’s still time to have your say. Submissions close 15 November.
We want to hear your experiences about:
- what you think is important to consider in pricing the NDIS
- how pricing approaches can best operate
- what does and doesn't work.
You can do this by answering a list of questions, or making an online submission. We know that there have been lots of requests for submissions recently, so you might also consider sharing your previous submissions with us to help us understand the impacts NDIS pricing has on you.
